Why I Believe Cybersecurity Isn’t Just About Technology

When people hear the word "cybersecurity," they usually think of firewalls, antivirus programs, and complex passwords. And sure, all of that matters - but in my experience, it's only half the battle.
The truth is, most cyberattacks don't succeed because the technology was bad. They succeed because human behaviour was predictable, and someone knew how to exploit it.
That’s why my background in forensic psychology and criminology has been such a huge advantage.I don't just look at the technical setup of a system - I look at the human patterns behind it:
How scammers manipulate trust.
How phishing emails are carefully crafted to trigger fear or urgency.
How insider threats often reveal themselves through subtle behaviors long before any system alert goes off.
When you understand how people are targeted, you can build better defenses - defenses that don't just rely on tech, but also on real-world human awareness.
At St3mTech, that’s what drives everything I do: Protecting businesses not just from malware, but from manipulation.
Because in today’s world, real cybersecurity has to be about more than just machines. It has to start with understanding the people behind the attacks - and the people we’re trying to protect. Your business deserves more than just strong passwords and firewalls - it deserves real protection, inside and out.
If you'd like to explore how to make your systems and your people safer, I'd be happy to help. Simply send me a short message through my website or connect with me on LinkedIn - I promise to personally respond within a day or two. 😊
